Vauxhall Frontera Named ‘Value Car of the Year’ at News UK Motor Awards 2025
The Vauxhall Frontera has been awarded the prestigious ‘Value Car of the Year’ title at the News UK Motor Awards 2025, a recognition that highlights its affordability, practicality, and cutting-edge electric offering.
Now in its eighth year, the News UK Motor Awards celebrate the standout vehicles across various categories, from family SUVs and city cars to luxury and performance models. A panel of top automotive journalists from major News UK publications—including The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times Magazine, and LUXX Magazine—helped determine the winners.
Judges praised the new Vauxhall Frontera for its exceptional value, combining practical design, stylish features, and accessible electrification. The Frontera is available in both electric and hybrid versions, reinforcing Vauxhall's commitment to making electric mobility more affordable for a wider audience.
Rob Gill, Motors Editor at The Sun, remarked, "Vauxhall has flipped the switch with the Frontera Electric. Traditionally, there's a 30% price gap between petrol and electric models, but the Frontera Electric is actually £2,000 cheaper than its petrol counterpart, starting at £22,000. With finance available from just £144 a month, the Frontera delivers impressive value, offering more for your money than you’d expect.”
Vauxhall Managing Director Steve Catlin also celebrated the recognition, stating, “The Frontera is a perfect example of our commitment to electrifying Britain. As the first car in the UK to offer both electric and hybrid versions at identical list prices, and now priced lower than its hybrid counterpart, the Frontera makes switching to electric more affordable than ever. With its generous specification and rugged design, we’re thrilled to see it recognized as the best value car of 2025.”
The Frontera set a new benchmark for accessible electrification when it was launched, with the electric and hybrid versions priced the same. Following the introduction of the Electric Car Grant, the Frontera Electric is now available from £22,495 on the road—cheaper than the hybrid model. This price adjustment eliminates the traditional premium associated with electric vehicles, making the switch to electric more practical for families and individuals alike.
Vauxhall has further expanded the Frontera lineup with the addition of the Ultimate trim, which sits above the Design and GS models. This top-tier trim includes a suite of features aimed at enhancing comfort and practicality, such as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a heated windscreen, LED fog lamps, and roof rails with a 240kg load capacity.
Electric All In
As part of its commitment to making electric mobility easier for customers, Vauxhall offers the ‘Electric All In’ package with every new Frontera Electric. This includes eight years of roadside assistance, with emergency charging support, along with a £500 credit that can be used for an Ohme home wall box installation, Tesco charging credit, or Octopus Electroverse credit. Customers also receive 10,000 miles of free home charging when they switch to the Intelligent Octopus GO home energy tariff.
This package is designed to help customers seamlessly transition to electric driving, reducing both the upfront costs and ongoing charging challenges.
